Not sure what to say?

My dad was a man of exceptional quality. He was gentle, smart, warm, hilarious and giving.

He lives on in each of my siblings and I see him in each of them, carrying on who he was through the love, caring and humor they each share with me and those who are lucky enough to know them.

So many of you who posted, reminded us all through your memories how he had such a special way of touching all of our hearts.
Others who never even knew him, left kind words of support...

The most handsome dad

I miss my dad very much. He gave me many gifts. Countless memories I will cherish and think of often. My wonderful family is a gift from him. Their love and humor are a source of comfort and strength to me.

You stomped your feet and I ran away scared but I always came back for more because I knew you were just playing. When we were through you said I was a "cute dog." To my beloved Husband,
I think St. Thomad More said it the way I feel.
"Pray for me, as I will for thee, that we will merrily meet in heaven."
Thank you so much for 58 years of marriage and for five loving and caring children.
I will miss you so much and love you alway and always.

Dear Family and Friends,
I adored my Dad. The hole he leaves with his presence gone is big. His love and memories are even bigger.
Thanks to everyone for sharing your memories and kind wishes of love and support. We read them over and over. So comforting. Your words will be cherished and held close always.
To my Dad,Friend and Hero I love you. Along with many you will forever be missed.

Dear Ginny, The Whole Winstead Family and friends,

Fortunately for us, reading Mary’s book and meeting her generated our long overdue visit to the Winstead apartment in early spring 2004. Despite too may years of disconnect we were able to share thoughts and memories forged in post-WWII through the serendipitous intertwining of the lives of Ginny, Chub and our parents Anne and Rube Ferster, initially at 4301 Aldrich Avenue South. By coincidence Windy and Ann met via a public list...

Dear wonderful Winstead family,

Mr. Winstead (and he will always remain Mr. Winstead to me) would sit in his chair at the house on York, reading the paper. On too many occassions, over too many years, I would walk in, as if I lived there! He would look up from the paper, over his glasses, as if deciding how to react this time.

There would be a pause, and then that smile that would envelop you and make you feel that no, you were never an intrusion, you were always a...
