Wiley L. Utterback 87, beloved husband, Father, Grand-father, brother and son, died on September 2, 2021, in Sacramento, CA. He was born on July 23, 1934, at Oakland, CA to Katherine and Vernon Utterback. Wiley was a mechanical insulator for Heat and Frost Insulators, Local Union 16, in San Francisco, CA, for 42 years. Throughout his 42 years with the Union Wiley worked at various sites at U.S. Naval Bases, oil refineries, nuclear power plants in the Greater Sacramento Area, Bay Area, as well as a traveler in the North-Western States. Wiley made life-long friendships with many of his brothers and sisters of Local 16. He was an advocate for many of his brothers and sisters who were sadly diagnosed with asbestos related diseases. Wiley was known throughout the Local for his impeccable daily journaling, in regards to who he worked with, what material he worked with, and where he worked. He was so proud of his daily chronicle of his memoir. Including Wiley researching his ancestry of The Utterback Family.
Wiley is survived by his sons: Dwayne (Nina,) Greenfield, IA, Rusty (Debbie,) Carmichael, CA and his daughter in law Margaret, Middleton, WI. He was preceded in death Wiley V. Utterback, Middleton, WI. Wiley was married to his wife of 54 years, Ellen J. Utterback she preceded him in death in 2012. Wiley also leaves behind his brother; Russel (Betty,) and sister Lois Barsdale (Chuck.) Wiley was Grand-pa Wiley to Maclain (Erica,) Kaitlyn (Brian,) David, Zachary (Kathy,) Marissa. Wiley's oldest grandson Andrew (Drew) Utterback, preceded him in death. Wiley also leaves numerous and loving nieces and nephews, who will miss him.
Celebration of life will begin at 10:00 AM, on September 24, 2021. Mount Vernon Mortuary 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA.
