Dr. Wilfred Dwight Webb

My father, who is now deceased, had Dr. Webb for a teacher probably around the time he started teaching in Hazel Park. He would tell me stories of how well liked Dr. Webb was by the students, even generously loaning his car to students for the proms. My father always spoke very highly of him and I think most of his memories from those days centered around Dr. Webb. Dr Webb was my boy scout master when i was a young man in hazel park. i last saw him at the rededication of Webb Junior High. although i did not think he would remember me, he immediately called me by name and gave me a hug. i called him a while back to invite him to lunch but did not realize that his lovely wife had just recently passed away and he wanted to wait a while before going to lunch. I have told many, many people over the years that Dr Webb was probably the finest...

Although I never sat in one of his classes, I have fond memories of between class interactions with Dr. Webb. He was always available to joke, counsel, engage in horseplay or, on many occasions, go as far as to loan his car to students for various purposes.

The educational community has lost one of its most esteemed proponents. He will certainly be remembered, and profoundly missed, by a great many Hazel Park High grads! RIP!!
