Not sure what to say?

I worked for Bill for a few years...a fierce competetor..at work..on the raquetball court..had alot of good times w/him away from work..a fun guy..took his life's work very serious..a great chef..and one who taught me a few life lessons..may his family find comfort and strength in this difficult time.

I'm another old friend from the high school days out here in the San Fernando Valley, although I did not go to Grant. Through a mutual friend, met "Bill" and Bill Brown late in high school. Loved the visits with Bill at the house next to the Heidelberg and loved touring the kitchen with Bill. Lost touch after high school and then by chance reconnected just a few years ago. A great reunion at the Bistro, a couple of return trips, some great champaigne gifts around the New Year. I will...

I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing. I went to junior and high school with him, and I was always envious of the fabulous brown bag lunches he would bring from the family restaurant. Eating at The Old Heidelberg was always a treat. Ronald Lascoe, his wife, Rebecca, and I dined at Bill's restaurant earlier in the year, and, unfortunately, we were unable to see him. True to his generous nature, Bill sent us a bottle of wonderful champagne, despite not seeing us since high school. Bill...

I had the great plesure of working with Chef Hoppe in Morro Bay. He was inspirational to me in so many ways.
All the best to his family

My wife and I attended Grant High School with "Bill" Hoppe and we graduated together in 1974. I played football with Bill for three years on varsity and was grateful to call him a friend during these years. I went to his fathers restaurant many times and always enjoyed myself there. Bill was fun and outgoing. On the football field he was all business, he played hard and hit just as well, we had a good time even though we did not win many games. I am sorry to say that I lost touch with...

I just wiped the tears from my eyes... I played football with Bill.. He was an awesome pillar of strength. People were literally afraid of him once they got hit by him. He was the captain of our team and a true leader. He was soft spoken and a really nice guy. So young... what a damn shame!

My husband and I extend deepest sympathies to Mr. Hoppe's family. We have been a patron of his most wonderful restaurant for years....

Didn't personally know the man, but my wife and I have enjoyed his restaurant for many years. He will truly be missed.
