I never had the luxury of having Dr. Clewell in class; however, from what I knew of him, he was a very nice man. He was always helpful in the hallways of the Science wing. I heard he was a tough teacher. I wish I could have had him in class! What a loss to the city of Allentown.

Dr. Clewell launched me on a most satisfying career of Chemical Engineering. In addition to being an excellent teacher, he was dedicated to his students and unselfishly gave his time to them. Clearly, he was a role model to many and former students signing this Guest Book represent only a short list of the people he influenced and guided. May he rest in peace.

The Allen High community has lost one of the great teachers in the history of that institution. I have lost a friend. Willard Clewell, may God bless your soul.

Doc was the most influential teacher in my life. I have made a career in high tech and it started with how he brought science to life. His legacy is his students and the impact we are having on the world. God bless and thank you.

Dr. Clewell was a very good friend to my father and treated my brother and I very well. He invited us to rocket launches in the fields outside Emmaus on Sunday afternoons and then would treat us to hamburgers at McDonalds afterwards. He was very fascinating as was his father. While I never had him as a teacher, I did learn many things from him. He was a great educator. Allen High School was fortunate to have him on their faculty.

Doc was the influence in my life that drew me to making chemistry my career choice. We had great times with him as members of the WAHS rocket club and on trips to Canada. His kindness to me when I was laid up in the hospital with a broken femur and at other times also will never be forgotten. It was a privilege to know him and to be able to attend the viewing, Mass and burial of a dear friend.
My God grant Doc His eternal mercy and peace.

My all-time favorite "nutty professor", I always enjoyed his classes. His style made science and experiments fun and interesting. I'll never forget his giant slide rule and still regret not taking the time to really learn how to use one. I took to heart a lot of the methods he employed for doing math in your head and making reasonable deductions. He was undoubtedly an influence in my education.
