Read MoreI just have learned of Willard's death. We were faculty colleagues at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for many years. Willard was in Political Science and I in Philosophy. I fondly recall the many chats we had. I joined the faculty in 1964. If there is any justice in the world, we may be able to resume those chats in the not too distant future.

Words cannot really express the respect for and affection I felt for Will. I was a caregiver for 7 years for him through HOme Instead. I didn't always have a lot of hours a week with him, but always enjoyed his sense of humor and kindness . He was truly a gentleman. And I learned so much from him..about politics and many other things. I also appreciated his love of all kinds of music, especially his grandsons'. I had Dr. Smith at UW-Oshkosh it the 70’s. He was one of my favorite Political Science Professors and always made his lectures interesting. A very well respected professor. My sympathies to his family.
