William “Billy” Adams, age 82, of Mandan, died June 26, 2012 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck as a result of West Nile disease with viral encephalitis complications. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 29, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church in Mandan with the Rev. Lee Herberg officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 AM Monday with military honors provided by the Mandan VFW and American Legion Posts. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Billy was born on December 15, 1929 in Mandan, the son of William C. and Irene (Neverdahl) Adams. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Ward in Okinawa. An Airman 1st Class, Billy also served in the U.S. Army reserves, retiring in 1978, with the rank of staff sergeant. He was united in marriage to Florence Ann Roehrich on November 5, 1957 in Bismarck. He dairy farmed south of Mandan for many years. Billy loved to play the accordion and have coffee with friends. He also enjoyed gardening and stayed active helping friends. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the V.F.W., American Legion, the Moose, and was a former member of the Eagles. He is survived his sons, Michael (Pam), Scott (Patti), and James, all of Mandan; his grandchildren, Kristy (Ryan) Brouchet of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Billy Adams of Mandan, and Mandy Adams (special friend, Jerry King) of Rapid City, South Dakota; great grandchildren, Ryan Brouchet Jr., Kye Brouchet, Tate Beckler, Taylor Adams, and Chance King; and special friend, Pat Vadnais. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Scott; and his wife Florence, who died in 2008.
To the Adams family...So sorry for your loss. Dareld knew Bill through the Army Reserves, they were in the same unit Dareld saw him at the Mall allot and he will miss him. To the family of Billy. Our heartfelt sympathy to you all. We are so sorry to hear of Billy's passing. When we heard he was in the nursing home, we said "we must go see him" and of course, it did not happen like it should have. I think of him and Florence and what a great couple they were. Everytime I saw Billy, he had a large smile on his face. My dad, Paul Zachmeier, was a friend to him and fellow VFW honor guard. Billy has been a long time friend, since childhood, as we were neighbors, and his cousins, Jean and Geri Adams were my cousins, so we all got together. After we left North Dakota, my husband and I always got together with Billy and Florence as she and my husband knew Florence as they were both from Bismarck. We especially enjoyed the farm picnics that were held on the farm when we were back there. We called each other on birthdays and Christmas. He will be missed. Kay

Sorry, to hear about your dad. I still remember when my parents Fred & Ruth Keller - would go to your parents house and your dad would cut my dad's hair for a six pack of Old Black Label. I always enjoyed visiting with your mom and dad. My husband David Aeschliman enjoyed being on the VFW Honor Guard with your dad, your dad always asked David about my mom, Ruth Keller - they would compare notes about getting old. Cherish the memories, no one can take them away.
