William-Barr-Obituary

William G. Barr

Obituary

A warm, sensitive, caring man passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the age of 83. William G. Barr was born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 7, 1924, the son of William Harvey and Geraldine (Kline) Barr.
Bill was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan who spent every available minute working on his 1940 Plymouth. Over the past 30 years, he spent many hours tinkering and doing body work on everything from a 1947 Studebaker Sky Hawk to a 1967 Ford Galaxy. Bill had a unique sense of family; he was always willing to brag about the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never met a stranger, never said a bad word about anyone and would have a friendly comment for everyone he met. Bill was very proud of the fact that he served with the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Dad, Pappap, we will miss your deep laughter, kind-heartedness and caring ways. You have instilled in us such wonderful attributes as compassion, kindness and the importance of giving.
Bill leaves behind his daughter, Linda (Art) Logan; son Stan (Kathy) Barr; grandchildren, Artie (Teresa) Logan, Julie (Iver) Cogdill, Shelley (Mike) Kraft, Stan Barr Jr., Jamie Barr; great-grandchildren, Tad, Dayton, Gracie, Halle, Chance; brother John (Sherry) Barr; his faithful dog, "Peanuts," who was truly man's best friend.
A memorial service for Bill will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Cremation has taken place and interment of ashes will be in the military columbarium at Mountview Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in his name to Meals on Wheels, 1309 16th St. West, Billings, MT 59102.

Not sure what to say?

We were so sorry to hear about Bill. He was always a warm and caring man and we know he will be missed by many. Please accept our deepest sympathies. Our thoughts are with all of you.

I will always remember Bill and his joking around. What a great guy!
I still miss going to camp with the family. We love you Bill!

We will miss Bill. Dale & Bill were cousins. We last saw Bill at his surprize 80th birthday party.
God Bless.

I mowed Bills lawn,he was always friendly and he often shared some of his life stories with me. He would often show me his collection of automobiles. I will miss him,I never heard him ever have anything bad to say about anyone, always an upbeat man.

Bill and I were the same age, 83, I believe our birthdays were both in August. We used to go to breakfast on MOST first Saturdays of each month with several other former employees of the Odegaard Store. We will miss the "gems of wisdom" from my good friend Bill. He will be missed by all who new him.
