Not sure what to say?

Very nice man, always helping everyone

Bill was a very nice man, always helping other people. A great chief, dedicated lots of time helping the SFFD toy program. I will always remember the great dive trips Bill organized and the camping at Stillwater cove. It was sure not the same without all those guys that came along to help provide an abalone feed at the toy program.

Ghosh and gee willikers! I never met a man who used those words before Bill. But he taught me by example that I would never have to suffer through listening to my own kids swearing as long as I followed Bill's example. here's to you, Bill, the best dive partner and friend, ever.

Bill Bassett was the best of the best. He was what every person should aspire to be. Kind, thoughtful, always with a smile on his face. I especially enjoyed all the dive trips with Bill. He introduced me to lobster and scollop diving down south and the toy program dives at stillwater cove. A true gentleman who will be missed greatly. God bless Bill and the Bassett Family.

Bill had time for everyone friends, family, fellow workers. He was only a phone call away. He never had a negative thing to say about anything or anyone. If anything or anyone really got to him the worst thing you might hear him say would be "Jiminy Crickets". I knew him for over 50 years and thought he would always be around. He was part of my life and I miss him.

My Grandfather was a great man. A very respectful, highly knowledgeable, courageous, dedicated, motivated individual. Also a great teacher in the art of doing things right. Taught me how to abalone dive which I will always keep the sport. Has poured out more than an army of love and inspiration. Truly a legend and always in my heart.
Proud Grandson.

Bill would amaze me at the things he could do at his age.I admired his attitude and his drive. He was an inspiration to a younger man as myself to try to emulate his passion to lead a long and full life. I met him back in 1978 when I bought my house next door to a house he owned. We knew some of the same people from the fire dept. He was always a very nice man, and a pleasure to talk to. Kathy and I send our condolences to the Bassett family.

Bill was a true gentleman. He always had a smile and a good word for everyone. He never looked or acted his age. When I grow up, I want to be just like him.

I shall always remember Bill as a great guy. At Batt. 9 he extended the same friendliness to us "jakies" as he would if you were the Chief of Dept. He made you feel like " just one of the boys". He always put people at ease and I feel lucky to have worked with him. Mike Kelly E39
