Not sure what to say?

My family and I were so blessed to have known your father. Through him I was able to meet so many amazing people. With his ability and determination I was able to receive my Transplant at University Hosp. In April of 1982. Which I was able to benefit from until March of 2018. My father and he enjoyed many days hunting & fishing... such a great man that improved humanity.

I thought of the meaning of his research and what he would be contributing to end the Covid - 19 Pandemic. Wouldn't he be surprised!!!!

Great memories from a couple of the younger ones of the Whetstone Rd. neighborhood: We remember winter sliding in your backyard with A. Lincoln and the frustration of hearing you older kids playing outdoors in the summer dusk when we had to go to bed (7:30 p.m.!). Memories of you learning to drive by going up and down the driveway. You have a great family lead by this great man, your father. Our sympathy on his passing. Jeff also sends condolences from Manlius True Value on the loss of a...

as a fellow upstate faculty member, i remember many cafeteria lunches with him after i arrived in the 1980s. he was then still working actively in his research lab, and continued to take an interest in medical center affairs long after his official retirement.
we also shared an interest in the outdoors, and in driving small sports cars with the top down!
bill was one of a kind, with many talents, who will be long remembered by the many people whose lives he touched. we'll miss you!

Dr. Bergstrom was my pediatrician in Syracuse, when he diagnosed me with vitamin-d deficiency rickets as a baby. No one else believed it could happen, and we have since learned it is a genetic disorder that runs in my family. Thank God Dr. Bergstrom was there and willing to do the research. I've always been sorry that I didn't sit still when I had to have my blood drawn! He was the most wonderful, caring person. I always knew he was a great doctor and person, but not how much until I...

No wonder Dr.David Hakanson cherished his days working on research in Bill's lab. How wonderful he was. It seems that the real scholars among us are just our friends and Bill was always a friend. I loved your writing of his love of walking and the outdoor. We don't allow ourselves the benefit that they bring enough because we say we are too busy. I never knew anyone as busy as long as Bill. He was a wonder and we will take the lessons of his life and make them our own. No greater Tribute can...
