BESS, William "Bill" - Of Flint, age 62, died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Keith McKinnies officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Visitation 2-6 p.m. Thursday and 12 noon. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Bill was born in Flint on February 5, 1949, the son of the late Nelson and Sybil Bess and was a resident of Flint all of his life. Bill graduated from Flint Northern High School. Bill married Sandy Ealy in December 2, 1973 in Flint. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, reading, puzzles and spending time outdoors. Bill retired from General Motors V8 Engine Plant and was a member of UAW Local #659. Surviving are wife, Sandy; children, Anthony "Tony" (Renae) Bess of Arizona, Shelly "Dawn" (Matthew) Smith of Linden and Ashley Bess of Flint; grandchildren, Abigail, Parker, Anika, Erika, Angelika and Matthew; sisters, Anita (Paul) Chussler of Flint and Susie (Craig) Williamson; brothers, Nelson and Larry Bess; mother-in-law, Elsie Ealy of Flint.
