Mr. William Byrd “Billy” Webster, 95, widower of Jean Prince Webster, of Mullins, passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, July 21, 2023, at National Health Care Garden City.
Mr. Billy was born in Mullins, South Carolina on September 1, 1927, the son of the late Wayman Young Webster and the late Willie Byrd Webster. Mr. Webster grew up around the Mullins Community, this is where he made friends, went to school, learned life lessons, and made a name for himself. Mr. Billy served his Country during World War II with the United States Army and the Merchant Marines. Mr. Webster was a Member of Macedonia United Methodist Church in Mullins and attended the Hut Class.
Until his retirement, Billy was in the Insurance business for 30 years. Mr. Billy was also employed with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, McKesson & Robbins Drug and Liquor Company in Sales for many years. However, many remember Mr. Billy as the Owner and Operator of Webster’s Men Shop in Loris, South Carolina, where he lived and worked for many years. He loved Loris and its people as he did his own hometown Mullins and its people. Mr. Billy was such a wonderful, loving man full of life and will be missed for his charisma and genuine humanity by all that knew him.
Mr. Webster is survived by his daughter, Alston Ann Coleman of Murrells Inlet; his grandchildren: Dr. William Zachary Webster and his wife, Dr. Meghan Webster, of Winston Salem, NC, William Coleman of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Ashley Webster Arnold and her husband, Jason, of Athens, GA; his great grandchildren: William B. “Tripp” Webster, III, Banks Arnold, and Maddie Arnold; a daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Webster of Lexington, KY; along with several nieces and nephews, and close friends.

Mr. Billy & Mrs. Jean were such special friends to my parents in Loris, and me. When my mother died in 2015 he comforted me with fond memories and funny stories. A wonderful man who will live on in our many memories of him.

Alston Ann and family, I truly loved your Daddy. Not only did I enjoy talking to him when I took piano lessons
from your precious mother, Jean, many years ago, but I would run in to him at the post office. We would stand
and talk about many things, but the one thing that stands out to me was his love for Jean, but most of all his love
for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That was one of the most important things to him. I will miss, Mr. Billy, and
his laugh,...

A beautiful service and a beautiful day to celebrate the life of my father-in-law, Billy Webster. He was one of a kind and will always be remembered by those that knew him. He is now with his son, Chipper, my late husband and the love of my life. I will truly miss him, as I do Chipper, but I know they are together and now at peace. All my love, now and forever. Lee Ann

Billy was always upbeat, optimistic, well dressed, funny, and glad to meet everyone who visited St. Gabriel's in Murrells Inlet. He enjoyed sitting outside with the newspapers, and watching baseball and golf upstairs on the bjg screen. He would talk about his time in the service, golf, and his wonderful family and life in small towns in South Carolina.
