"Bud, are you decent?" I would say when I'd come into the house. He would reluctantly say yes, so I intruded on him in the living room for a moment to say Hi and briefly comment on what he was watching on TV. I didn't know him well, but I don't think it was a good idea to interrupt him duringt the last round of a golf tournament.
He did like a good joke and it was so nice to hear him laugh.
