William D. “Bill” Bonney, 74, of Easton, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 6, 2025, surrounded by his family, caregivers and friends, Nate and Heather McIntyre at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hecktown Oaks Campus, after a 10 year courageous battle against ALS. 


Born in Easton, September 21, 1950, he was the son of the late John D. and Wanda L. (Lobb) Bonney.


Bill was a 1968 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and received his Associates Degree from Northampton Community College.  He honorably served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Marine Corp, stationed in Okinawa, Japan.


He was employed as an Employment Consultant for VIA, Community Foundation for Human Development and LARC. 


Bill participated in the Theatre Department at Northampton Community College.  He also enjoyed reading and writing Poetry.  He was a fan of football, enjoying watching Penn State and the Philadelphia Eagles.  He also enjoyed gardening, making furniture, photography and making all his own unique greeting cards, listening to music and making music and poetry CD’s.


While at Pen Argyl High School, he was part of the first wrestling team in 1964 and was the first varsity wrestler to take the mat. 


He is survived by his brother, John B. “Jack” Bonney of Pen Argyl, his sister, Elizabeth B. “Liz” Wilson of Stroudsburg, his niece Marci Lynn Elliott of Bethlehem, his caregivers, Luisa Cruz, and Naomi Calzada and his best friend Tom Lentz.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sherry L. Elliott and Candice L. “Candy” Bonney. 


Funeral services will be held, Monday, September 15, 2025, at 11 AM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl.  There will be a viewing at 10 AM until time of services at the funeral home.  Interment with Military Honors will conclude services at Fairview Cemetery, Pen Argyl.
