O. L. Hughes and Sons Mortuary - Lexington Obituary

William Glenn Boyd, Sr., 81, entered into his eternal rest on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the University of Kentucky Hospital after a brief illness.

William, affectionately known as “Bee,” was born on October 29, 1942, to the late Joe Thomas, Sr., and Maggie Burns Boyd. After relocating to Lexington, the Boyd family moved to the Smithtown neighborhood, where they were well known and loved, attending Fayette County public schools. Bee accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong devoted member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Bee was a bricklayer by trade, building lots of homes in the Lexington area before a long career as a driver with Sallee Horse Vans. He enjoyed fishing, watching his grandkids play sports, sitting on his porch with his family and friends, and hanging at the Barbershop.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert “Bobby,” Charles “Pap,” Joe “June,” and David Boyd.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Betty Boyd; three children, Scherer, William, Jr., and Felice Boyd; six grandchildren, Shane (Mistie), Aaron, Karmari, Jasmine, Donovan, and Shelby Boyd; two great-grandchildren, Braven and Kashel Boyd; siblings, Charles “PeeWee,” Rosalene “Lucy” Bobbitt, Glenna “Tee” Sanderlyn, Bonnie, Vina “Ann,” Stella, Anthony “Booga,” and Lenora “Baby Cakes” Boyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences go out to the Boyd family; you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Rest peacefully in heaven, Bee.

I met Mr. Bee at his son Glen barbershop. We always talked and shared old stories about fishing, horses and old friends. I know he was a wise and decent man. I will miss the conversations we had together. May peace be with the Boyd family. Rest In Peace Mr.Bee !

To the family of "Bee" I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you all, may God continue to Bless each of you.

I extend my deepest heartfelt condolences to the Boyd family during this very difficult time. William “Bee” was a classmate of mine many years ago. R.I.P. Bee.
