William Lundy “Bill” Britton, 50, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, August 25, 2003 at his residence.

Mr. Britton was born on November 13, 1952 in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of the late George Russell Britton, Sr. and Cora Lundy Britton of Portsmouth, Virginia. He was a store manager for Purcellville Tire and Auto Service in Purcellville, Virginia. Mr. Britton was formerly a Snap on Tool dealer and worked at numerous Tire Dealers in the Winchester/Frederick County area. He was also the former manager of North Fork Camp Resort in Front Royal, Virginia. Mr. Britton was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he was Vice President of the Church Council and was also past President. He was a former supervisor for Frederick County Department of Recreation from 1980 – 1985. He was also supervisor for Sports & Athletics and was supertendent of Recreation. He was an instrumental in the development of youth programs and also in the statewide development of the Golden Olympics for seniors in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mr. Britton married Cindy Hudgins Britton on July 17, 1976 in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Surviving with his wife, are four children, Nicholas Lundy Britton, David Franklin Britton, Michaela Eileen Britton and Isaiah Russell Britton, all at home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Pastor William Rosenow, Pastor Martha Miller Simms and Pastor James H. Utt officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Don Wilhite, Robert “Brindy” Brinson, Ray Horton, Frankie Bowen, Alan Morley, Bert Bateman and Chip Hudgins.

The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
