William Browne Obituary

William John Browne, Jr.
William John Browne, Jr. age 84, of Killingworth, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was the beloved husband of Leona (Waselik) Browne. He was born in West Haven on August 6, 1938, the son of William John Browne and Helen (Volgenau) Browne.
Bill had been a resident of Killingworth since 1969 and truly loved living and making his home in such a beautiful community. Prior to his retirement, he was a Crew Dispatcher for the Metro-North Railroad. He had worked for the railroad for 37 years. He was a communicant at Saint Lawrence Church in Killingworth and had been a member of the Church Choir. Bill enjoyed freshwater fishing, especially fishing for Largemouth Bass. He loved working on his classic American Cars and Hot Rods, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. He will be remembered for his outside building skills, having built his large garage, gazebo and so many other projects.
Besides his wife, Sue, he leaves daughters, Kimberly Browne-Martin (Jerry) of Longmeadow, MA, Pamela Legare (Steve) of Smithfield, RI, and his son, William Browne, III of Deep River. Bill also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Cassandra, Anthony and Luke Martin and his sisters, Rosemary Carey of North Haven and Maureen Farquharson of Clinton.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 10:30am to 11:30am at Saint Lawrence Church, 7 Hemlock Drive in Killingworth, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00pm. Burial will be held following Mass in the Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook. The family gives special thanks to the Hospice Home Care Team for their care of Bill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to Saint Lawrence Church or the Killingworth Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 749, Killingworth, CT 06419.
