William Arthur Burns, 91, of Manchester, NH, was lucid and alert just a few short days ago. He knew the end was near, accepted his fate calmly, and was in good humor. An eagerly consumed nip of Jim Beam helped! In the early hours of Saturday, April 16, 2022, Bill Burns muckied. Bill preferred the...

Not sure what to say?

I sadly did not get to know Mr. Burns as well as I could wish having attended Memorial High as Margo and Steve did. But I did get to know both of them during my years at UNH and to them I wish my profound sympathy. He was an inspiring person by all accounts and by what I see in both of them. For you both, as long as students and staff from Central High live as well as yourselves he will be remembered. And those that go on always live in our hearts as long as we remember and cherish them too.

What a beautiful obituary. That says it all. Mr. Burns was not only my Principal at Central High school back in 1986 when I was there, but was also my Father's Teacher in Falmouth MA. Needless to say I did not get away with much. Mr. Burns was such a wonderful man. His door was always open when we needed someone to talk to. Always so very kind and compassionate. He will be deeply missed. No one will be able to fill his shoes. May he rest in peace. My deepest sympathies go out to...

Awesome principal, my thoughts and prayers are with his family

Mr. Burns was my Principal, class of 1984. I remember him as being kind and fair! Within the last year or so, he came thru my register at the local grocery store, and I acknowledged who he was. He asked my name, and said, "You must've been a good kid, I don't recognize your name or face". I laughed, but I certainly believed him! :)

What a man! He was a great principal. Always acknowledged me in the halls. A great person who always made me laugh. He kept me out of detention so many times. I loved that he "talked" to you and worked with you. He never made me feel like I didn't matter. Such a wonderful man. Thank you, Mr. Burns for all the help and guidance thru my years at Central. You always put a smile on my face even on bad days. CLASS of 81! Rest in Peace Young Man. You will NEVER be forgotten in my heart. My prayers...

Mr. Burns was my Principal at Central, class of 1984. I was a transfer student. He treated me so kindly. He was always available to all of us, he really cared about his students. What a wonderful person, he left a impression on me that never faded. May he Rest In Peace. My deepest and sincere Condolences to his family.

Condolences to the Burns family. Mr. Burns was the best. It just seemed like he knew every student and he never missed a hoop game (nor did Mrs. Burns) even if it was in Durham. He was a wonderful man.

My very deepest sympathy to the Burns family. Mr. Burns was a good and fair man in my few interactions with him, and was respected by all. CHS '95

RIP Bill Burns. You were the principal when my three children went to Central. You left some great memories for my old Alma Mater. class of 1951
