Bill - It seems hard to think 2 years you have passed and we would sit and talk about the neighborhood and local comings and goings, and with Pat observe the Eagles flying to their nest. The Eagles are still here Don and when we see them we think of your and Pat's always positive ways of thinking about life. RIP, good neighbor and friend!

I knew Don from Susie Cowan's watercolor class. What I remember most about Don is the twinkle in his eye and his sweet smile. His sense of humor and whimsey was obvious in his paintings. Googley eyes will always bring him to mind. I feel blessed for having know him.

I got to know Don during construction of the new downtown library, when I was communications director for Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries. He was a delightful source of information on local architectural history and the 1963 building on Mill Plain Blvd. Librarian Karin Ford and I had a delightful and informative tour of the old library with him (I took copious notes!) He spoke with great fondness of Librarian Eva Santee and his great respect for her as the two of them oversaw design and...

Don and Pat have been friends and neighbors for 15 years. We talked frequently to Don during his illness and he reminded us through these conversations what grace and dignity - and humor - were all about. You said you would be among us for your birthday and you did it! We miss you Don.
