COATES, JR., , WILLIAM LOUIS 97 of Garland died Saturday February 9, 2008. William was born October 9, 1910 to William Louis Coates, Sr. and Naomi Tracy Coates in Odessa, Missouri the third born of four children. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, his sisters, Jamie Coates, Madeline Paddock, and Dorothy Wilcox. He served in the 349th Combat Engineers in the European theatre during World War II. After the war he was employed at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Fairfax, Kansas where he was a member of the United Auto Workers Union local #31 until his retirement in 1972. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Berneice Coates of Garland; son, Charles Louis Coates and wife, Carole; grandsons, Dr. Louis Pat Coates and wife, Michelle and Stephen Douglas Coates; great-grandsons, Hunter Louis Coates and Kyle Allen Coates all of Garland. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in Williams Memorial Chapel. Dear Lou and Carole,
I am so sad for your loss. What wonderful memories you must have of Lou's Dad. He must have had an amazing 97 years! How fortunate he was to have such a loving family. I am certain the angels welcomed him with open arms. The pictures were wonderful.You remain in our thoughts and prayers.
