I extend my sincere condolences to the family William Coughlin. It was an honor for me to row with Captain Bill on the 1954 Harvard lightweight varsity crew. I always envied Bill's powerful stroke and appreciated his kindness to me as a green sophomore crew mate. God bless you, Bill.

Bill was a dear friend for many, many years. I'll always remember our times together, both at the boat club and our meals together. He was always a great intellect and a lot of fun, with a wonderfully curious mind. I will miss him greatly.
