Not sure what to say?

Jane and kids, I am so sorry to hear about Bill. I'm sure you remember me as Jane Spohr and when I signed in I forgot to add that. We had such good times together, I laugh thinking about them. Would love to catch up with you Jane, again I'm so sorry for your loss. Love to all of you.

Another Dawes (84) student here. Mr. Cutt taught history in a very relatable way, making subjects relevant to young children. I certainly benefited from what he imparted. Yet I found his personality bigger than the history. There is much I remember but the favorite memory: He had a penchant for archery and once mentioned survival activities as a hobby. He regaled us with details very real and exciting. He can be credited for igniting something personally very dear - a lifelong and seemingly...

Mr. Cutt was my 7th & 8th grade History teacher at Dawes (class of '83). Since learning of his death, my friends, family, and I have been sharing memories of him. When I think of him, terms like "socio-economic classes" and "man's inhumanity to man" reverberate through my brain. I also recall playing a trivia game based on current events which is one of the reasons I pay close attention to the news today. He was a memorable teacher with kind eyes and a tough dude who I thought could live...

I am yet another of Mr. Cutt's 7th grade social studies students from Dawes elementary school in Chicago--Fall '79-Spring '80. Many of my memories from his class are fun ones (he often engaged his sleepy audience with a dramatic slap of the ruler on someone's desk as he enthusiastically role played a moment in U.S. history). I have a lasting impression of Mr. Cutt as an extraordinary teacher. I felt encouraged by him to do well in class and his lively teaching style was an example to me of...

I WAS A 1979 GRADUATE OF DAWES ELEMENTRY. MY FONDEST MEMORY WAS WHEN I GOT A 100 ON A HISTORY TEST ON A FLUKE AND HE WROTE ON IT IF I GOT A 100 ON THE NEXT TEST HE'D EAT THE PAPER. WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY I DIDN'T BUT HIS CLASS WAS ALWAYS AN ADVENTURE. MY CONDOLENSES TO HIS FAMILY.

Mr. Cutt was my 7th grade teacher and was my favorite teacher at Dawes (Class of '87). His encouragement is one of the reasons why I work in a school today. Some of us were talking about our favorite memories these past few days. Mine? He would always stand halfway up the staircase in the morning for crowd control. When I came by, he would stop me and take my hand and place a balled up piece of Certs wrapper in my hand. Then he would close my hand and in a very serious voice tell me to keep...

Jane,Rosie and family, I am so sorry for your loss of Bill. He was such a nice person and he loved his little Rosie soooo much! If there is anything that I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask. My prayers are will you all at this time.

Mr.Cutts Family,
This former Dawes 7th grade history student was surely saddened to hear of Mr.Cutts passing. History in Mr. Cutts class was always an adventure for this student who dreaded the subject. My condolences to all.
