Willie was a brilliant man and truly gifted musician. I met Willie in the early seventies and we played together with different groups for the next forty years. We played shows with some of the biggest names in the genre including, Doc Watson, Norman Blake, Peter Rowan and BW Stevenson. Even in that level of company, Willie stood out as guitar player. He was my friend, and I'll never forget our time together.
