Dr. Denny will always be fondly remembered as one of the faculty members who took a personal interest in teaching and mentoring medical students. Classes were small enough that events could be held at the homes of many of the faculty at the VAMC. I also was part of the small group of residents funded by the VAMC

Bill was my first attending on the wards during my internship July,1979. During my years of practice a day has not gone by that something has come up that I was taught by Bill. I remember him as a stellar mentor but more important an exemplary human being. He epitomized what being a physican is actually about.

Bill hired me as chief of Rheumatology at the Tucson VA in 1973. He has been a mentor, fiend, colleague, supporter, confidant and leader for all the years since. I could always count on him for sage counsel and for sharing thoughts and feelings. He has been a role model as a physician educator and an excellent administrator.. He was a physician in every good sense of the word. Bill will continue to be an influence oon me the rest of my life and will be remembered with great honor as my friend.
