William Clarke Devereux, beloved husband of Patricia McGowan, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the age of 90, after succumbing to the cancer he had so valiantly battled. Clarke is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, and his seven children, Mary Pat, Monica (Chris Columbus), Clare (James) Roche, Clarke (Kathleen), Aimee, Doyle (Meredith), and Elizabeth, and his eighteen adored grandchildren. Clarke is survived by his loving sisters, Sr. Margaret Devereux, BVM, and Marilyn (the late Joseph) Lawlor, and his brother, Joseph (Joan) Devereux, and by Maureen (the late Martin) McGowan, and many nieces and nephews. Clarke was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Angela Devereux Ebzery. Clarke was born in Chicago on May 18, 1931, to William Patrick Devereux and Margaret McCormick Devereux. Clarke was a proud 1949 graduate of St Ignatius. Clarke served in the army as a first sergeant in Korea, returning to graduate from Loras College. In 1956 Clarke married Patsy McGowan, his senior prom date and the love of his life. Clarke and Pat raised their family in Oak Park and River Forest. Clarke enjoyed supporting his children's schools, teams, and activities. He founded the Devco Foil Stamping and Embossing Company, and enjoyed his side career appearing in over ten films, including "Home Alone," "Mrs. Doubtfire," and "Adventures in Babysitting." Clarke was a constant as an usher at the 10:30 Mass at St. Luke, in River Forest, only missing when he was traveling the world with his beloved Patsy. Clarke, or Pa, as he was known to those who loved him most, will be sorely missed but will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation Friday 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson-Bassi Chapels 6938 W. North Ave. Friends are asked to meet Saturday at St. Luke Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Not sure what to say?

A man of great esteem in the Brandstrader clan. FLB’s best friend.

Booey, I am sorry for your loss. Just reading about your dad - he certainly lived a full life. A beloved renaissance man. My thoughts are with you.

My sympathy and prayers go out to Clarke's family. He was a wonderful man and I enjoyed seeing him at Mass at St. Luke Church!

Sharon & I would like to extend our sympathies to the Devereux Family. Clark was my sponsor for confirmation. We "caught" his movie career & commented "That's my cousin". He will be forever remembered.

Pat, I ll always remember a fun, caring family man.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Clarke. He was such a wonderful man, actor and patriot. Tessa and I were honored to have known and Tessa loved working with him on Doug's Christmas. Sending prayers and hugs from the Kruczek family.

The entire Devereux family will be in my thoughts and prayers. So many fond memories of Clark over the years dating back to our days at St. Ignatius.

Mom & Pa, thank you for everything. We love you so much!

Mom& Pa, we love you forever
