Bill was my mentor at IBM in the late 1970's. He had a profound impact on my life and career. He showed patience with my youthful exuberance, and taught me to slow down and examine a problem from the ground up. It took me a while to appreciate his dry wit, but I realized eventually what a thoughtful and intelligent person he truly was. I know he touched many lives, and I know he made each one better!
