Not sure what to say?

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Bill Edelstein and I extend my sincere condolences to Fiona, his children, his entire family and friends, and to everyone Bill has touched through his work.

I first met Bill when I arrived at Harvard in 1971. He was a few years ahead of me, but we became good friends since then and we communicated several times a year throughout the past 43 years. He loved his family, truly cared for his work, and was very dedicated to his field. He was highly...

Dear
Fiona, We have such fond memories of our time together in Schenectady, singing with Bill in the FUUSS choir, and discussing books with both of you in our book group. We are so sorry for your loss.

Dear Fiona and family, I was so sorry to hear about Bill's death. He was determined to fight his illness and did so with his usual determination and tenacity. I felt enormously privileged to have met Bill and to then meet up with him over the years at various MRI gatherings was a real pleasure. He was a huge figure in the MR world and was very influential. we will all miss him very much.

Aberdeen MRI

I worked with Bill for years at GE, designing and testing quiet MRI. He was always full of great ideas, and possessed an uncanny ability to arrange test materials and test sites. I missed him greatly when he left GE. The attached photos are of an exhibit in the Museum of Science in London, of the first Aberdeen full body MRI. Note that Bill is credited it on the exhibit sign.

Dear Fiona, and Bill, if you are up there checking email,
I only got to know you recently. What a lovely gracious man. And obviously incredibly smart and talented and made his mark on the world, in a very good way. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

My deepest sympathy!
What a profound loss of a colleague and friend!

Fiona,

I remember Bill fondly as my fellow advocate, working tirelessly to pursue excellent educational opportunities and fair treatment for all in Niskayuna schools. Along the way, I would hear stories of your kids which helped inform my own parenting and also revealed Bill, the loving and involved father and husband. While it gradually became clear that there were topics that Bill and I had divergent opinions on, Bill was always cheerful about that. He made his best pitch but then...

Bill was a father figure not only in MRI field but in many other areas in life to me. He enjoyed sharing his wisdom and experience, whether it is about a good doctor he saw, or a bread recipe he tried, a software to clean up the computer, and mostly i benefited by working with him in the field of MRI at Hopkins and outside. His contributions to MRI is vast and but he talked very little about them. Always wanted to work on projects that he would emphatically say "useful". I will dearly miss...

Fiona-- Bill was a good man, brilliant scientist, and I'm sure a wonderful father and husband. He lived a good life and made a difference in this world for so many others. He really brought MRI to the masses.
