Ellis, William C. "Bill"-- Of Somerville, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was 63 years old. 


Born and raised in Somerville he was the beloved son of Mary F. (McLaughlin) and the late Arthur D. Ellis Sr.


Bill loved spending time on the Cape, at his family cottage.
 
His granddaughter, Emma, was the light of his life. You could see his face light up whenever she was around.
 
Bill was an avid golfer, who achieved not only one but two holes in one. Always modest, he said, “it was pure luck
 
He was a Somerville firefighter for 33 years, and received a meritorious citation for his professional and effective performance in the line of duty.
 
Bill placed family above all else. He would drop anything to help out, in anyway. He was so proud of his children, Amy and Billy.
 
Bill was a generous and giving person. He would give you the coat of his back, if he thought it would alleviate someone’s pain.
 
Bill we be missed by so many and his loss leaves an ache in the hearts of all who knew him.

A funeral procession will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) on Thursday, March 2nd at 9:00AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church 64 Warner St. Medford, at 10:00AM. 


Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.


Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, March 1st from 3:00PM to 7:00PM. 


Services will conclude with interment held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. 


In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bill's name to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Kidney Fund.
