Not sure what to say?

All Princetonians in Richmond and beyond have lost a true supporter and friend. His photo above says it all - he loved Princeton and all who loved it. On behalf of the Princeton Association of Virginia, we send Bill a rousing "Locomotive" on his way to Heaven.

Dear Moonie, Sandford and Emily, I was so sorry to see Bill's picture in the paper and to learn of his illness. I have such wonderful memories of all of you from my time in the neighborhood. When I first met Bill, I was not used to his wit and was a bit afraid of him!! Little did I know, I would come to know a warm, friendly, hilarious family man. He was always so fun to talk to and I feel lucky to have known him. I loved seeing how all of you were so close and I know you all are comforting...

"Dr. Things" was my classmate, my clubmate, my roommate and most of all my friend. He was one of a kind and I will miss him dearly. I know I speak for the Princeton University Class of 1968 when I say, "Thank you, Bill, for all you've done for us over the years."

I was just informed about Mr. Etherington´s passing. I am so sorry for your loss. He taught me so much and he let me have all the responsibilities I so wanted to further my career. I remember babysitting for your babies and just loved seeing them! I remember the drinks after work with our group from Christian Barton. He was such a good sport with all of us. And I remember him traveling and secretaries sending me packages of things he wanted me to do. They misunderstood my name and sent...

It is with great sadness that I learned from Moonie about Bill's passing. Willie and Tom McJ were very close friends in Law School, and thoroughly enjoyed discussing their professors and classes. Bill was an excellent and riveting story teller, and that smile on his face at the P'ton reunion captures it all. Quick witted, formidably intelligent, humorous and helpful, Bill was a great and devoted friend to so many. We were all so fortunate to have had Bill enrich our lives. Hoping you...

Bill was truly one of a kind and a great friend. What a loss.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I am so sorry for your loss.

We send our love to you. Bill will forever have a most special place in our hearts and minds. Love, David and Linda

So sorry distance prevents me from being with you at this sad time / my thoughts are with you all.
