Rest in peace Uncle Bill

Wild Bill Fields won his moniker during his very first season of racing. It was 1965 on the clay figure eight track at Manzanita Speedway. The figure eight track was a dangerous place to be since the track intersected and the drivers were always trying to get through the intersection without crashing and without losing too much time. Wild Bill adopted a winning strategy early on - drive a fast car and never, ever slow down when coming to the figure-eight intersection. Other drivers soon...
