William Figueroa (Bill)

of Indianapolis, IN, formerly a longtime resident of Merrillville, IN, passed away February 2, 2016. Born in East Chicago, IN on November 18, 1933 to Francisco and Consuelo Figueroa, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois Marie Figueroa, his eldest son, William Figueroa Jr., as well as siblings, Frank, George, Carmen, and Connie. He is survived by five children: Rebecca (Pat Lee) of Columbus, OH, Veronica (Fred Haas) of St. Louis, MO, Tony (Rhonda) of Fishers, IN, Christine (Dan Ryan), and Stephen (Sarah) both from Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren; and siblings, Gus, Louie, Lupe', and Irene.

Bill served as a Corpsman in the Korean War on the USS Wasp, was employed by NCR for over 20 years, and became a successful entrepreneur as the owner of Pepe's Tacos in Valparaiso, IN. A man of faith and current member of St. Pius in Indianapolis, he was a longtime member of Our Lady of Consolation while living in Merrillville. Bill lived his life for his family, often sneaking his grandchildren handfuls of candy and money. He loved the Chicago Bears and was learning to love his new hometown Colts, while cheering on Peyton Manning. He was a humble but charismatic man that gave the best hugs ever and made everyone feel as if they were the most beautiful person in the world. Although a private man, Bill cherished his many friendships at Newport Bay in Indianapolis.

There were birthdays, cookouts, 4th of Julys & swimming in the backyard pool. When you kids moved to Merrillville Bob convinced your dad that he too could "build a backyard pool" & there were a few times after it caved in that he wished he had'nt listened. The 4 of us loved our (adult...

Our family is saddened and our hearts are heavy as we say good bye to one of the sweetest persons God created.
Uncle Will had an incredible gift of making all of us feel appreciated, accepted and special on every encounter with him. It is said that you won't remember the material things that a person gives you as much as you will remember how they made you feel. Uncle Will always made you feel warm and fuzzy inside...valued and loved. We were all lucky to have someone like that touch our...
