Bill, when I saw you two weeks ago you looked good. You were reading the New York Times and had two progressive tomes by your side. I promise, I will crack open my copy of Progress and Poverty for you.

Although I haven't seen him in many years, when I think of Bill Flynn I immediately and clearly see his friendly face breaking into a smile or a laugh. Despite his obvious intelligence and depth, I honestly cannot picture him any way other than joyful.

Bill always struck me as a particularly enlightened gentleman, a true force for good, even worthy of our beloved Charlotte! And while he'll certainly be missed and mourned, I'm sure we're all grateful he was able to contribute so much...

Bill was truly "an officer and a gentleman." He will be missed by so many people. He and Charlotte lived around the corner from me and Bill often walked by my house on his exercise route; he'd stop to chat when I was outside. A few years back he walked their dog, but in the last months he was on the arm of a companion. You could see his fierce determination to keep going, even when his body was rebelling.
