William "Bill" L. Franklin, 68, of Spencer, passed away at his residence, Wednesday, March 14, 2012. He was born in Owen County to Herbert C. and Audrey (Unger) Franklin on October 27, 1943. Bill was a 1962 graduate of Spencer High School. He then served in the Army during the Vietnam War, serving in Korea. Mr. Franklin retired from G.E. in 2003. He enjoyed traveling and trying new recipes with his wife, Darlene. He also designed and crafted stain glass. Bill is survived by his wife with whom he was with for 25 years, Darlene (Denny) Franklin; son, Jason (Jennifer) Denny of Fredericksburg; brother, Larry Franklin of Spencer; grandchildren, Karli and Connor Denny; a nephew, Chris Franklin of Spencer; an uncle, Ray Unger of Spencer; an aunt, Heidi Unger of Spencer, and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Saturday, March 17, 2012, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home. Rev. Sonny Ooley will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery where military graveside services are to be conducted by the Spencer American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial contribution may be made to ALS in Bill's memory.
