To Ann and the family of Mac, may the Lord comfort you in your time of sorrow. I am saddened with Mac's passing but also very grateful that my family and I had the privilege of having Mac in our lives. He was present for the happiest of times, as well as the saddest__ dancing at my wedding and giving a eulogy for my father. Mac was "like a brother" to my father. We are all blessed to have known him.

Billy Mac Gann was the real deal and one of a kind. Mac was my first boss out of law school. I had the privilege of carrying his brief case and file boxes to courthouses from the gulf coast to the panhandle and a lot of places in between. Mac loved life, he loved his friends, he loved practicing law and he loved his family. Everyone who was close to Mac has their own favorite "Mac Story" and it is through these that his legacy will continue. I am proud to say that he was my friend. I loved him and will miss him greatly.

Ann, although it has been a few years, I am truly saddened by Mac's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this trying time. I selfishly can say I was blessed in that I knew Mac and considered him one of the best people I have ever met and was honored to call him a friend. My world as has all of ours will miss one of the nicest people who truly, genuinely cared about others. He will be missed greatly.

Mac never met anyone he didn't like or who didn't like him. He was unfailingly kind, courteous and respectful to ally and adversary alike. His career was characterized by honesty, candor and ethical behavior. He represented his cliengs vigorously, but never offensively. He was bright, creative, insightful and an excellent student of the law. He was a lawyer's lawyer. I will miss my friend.

Mac changed the course of our lives. He was always there for us, whether it was starting our business, tragedy in our family, buying real estate....he was there in the good times and the bad. we had many hours of laughter and loved all his stories. many of you know the story of "My dodge". there were countless stories and he was the absolute best at telling them. we had so many people who needed him and did not have money, but he always helped them and never charged anything. he will be sorely missed and he was loved by our entire family.

Mac was a beloved friend to John and me. We had many wonderful trips together with Mac and Ann. He was always there for us in every way and when he would call John, he would ask for his "bro" and was the brother John never had. May he be surrounded with angels and be held in their wings.

Mac lived life fully and well “out of deference to the shortness and uncertainty of life” – one of my favorite “Mac-isms.” Mac made being a great trial lawyer look easy. Those of us who had the privilege to work with him and who tried to keep up with his prodigious work ethic and brilliant strategic legal mind (always spot-on in seeing a case through the eyes of a juror) knew well his success was hard-earned and well-deserved. Mac was a wonderful mentor and I benefit to this day from the lessons I learned as he schooled me in “the things they don't teach you in law school.” A last “Mac-ism” – “see you on the other side, my friend.”

Mac was loved more than he ever realized, and he will be greatly missed. He was a great lawyer, and probably the best “story teller.” Words can never express how much he changed and influenced me for the better. He was my boss, friend and surrogate father for 15 years. I will always cherish the trips we made together, and how much he taught me about the world, life, business, people and attitude. He will be forever in my heart, and I will be forever grateful.

So long to a true Texas trial lawyer. From Arkansas, yes, but he got here as fast as he could. And the people who knew him, family, friends, colleagues, and clients, are richer for having known him. He brought smiles to many faces with his wonderful sense of humor.

I went to work for Miller Gann & Perdue (for Mr. Perdue Sr.) when I was 19, 36 years ago. It just can't be that long ago. Mac was an old-fashioned lawyer with the genuine interest of his client first. I stopped by his office about a year ago before I moved to Phoenix to say hello and he was not in, but called to pesonally acknowledge the visit. It was just something Mac did. The Bar suffered a great loss with the passing of Mac. Robin Zugar Thompson (Phoenix, Arizona)
