I can honestly say, I never met anyone whom I admired more than Bill Garland. I began working for Garland Steel when I was 19 years old, and was amazed at how approachable Bill was. I last saw him when we dined together at a Rotary function 46 years later. He was always interested in what I had to say...That was Bill. Our loss can only be measured in lifetimes. He was a great man.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was truly a wonderful person. I'm happy to say I had the privilege of working for him at Garland Steel. He was the very best boss and employer I've ever had.
To the Garland family, my sincere condolences for your loss.

Bill: We went through a lot in16 years at Garland Steel, the warehousing when I recieved half a paycheck from Garland Steel and half a paycheck from the Warehousing Company, building the Rood Cotton Harvester, the Swather/ Windrower, the Polystyrene moulding, the spiral culvert and the spiral culvert coupling that George Campbell invented.
