William Landers Glasgow Sr., 68, passed from this earthly life and into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at home. He was born May 27, 1940, in Decatur to Otto and Eudelle Glasgow. William was a devoted Christian husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Westmeade Baptist Church. He retired from 3M Decatur after 35 years of service.
Funeral will be Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Scotty Hogan and Larry Dillard officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Glasgow; mother, Eudelle Glasgow; and two children, Melissa Jane Glasgow and Roy Sims Glasgow.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Elizabeth Dean Glasgow; son, William Glasgow Jr. of Decatur; two daughters, Dawn Glasgow Cowley of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Lori Glasgow Courtney of Decatur; brother, the Rev. Fred O. Glasgow Sr.; two sisters, Mary Louis Hobbs and Judy Eudelle Spain; four granddaughters, Katie Glasgow, Allie Cowley, Melissa Cowley and Kara Copeland; and two grandsons, Kit Copeland and Jacob Glasgow.
Pallbearers will be William Glasgow Jr., Kit Copeland, Harold Cowley, Fred Glasgow Jr., Kevin Courtney, Thomas Watson and Billy Johnson.
Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
