REST in Peace ...my boyhood friend . Bill and I grew - up in Holy Child Parish , and he sat next to me in class at Cardinal Dougherty H.S. When we chatted at our 50th reunion this past year ... it was as if ... we had been in regular contact . A great memory . Never thought it would be the last time I would see him ? After living away from the Philadelphia area for 35 years, upon our recent return in 2018, Billy found out I was back in town and reached out to me. We had a great conversation catching up and promised to get together with each other soon. That reunion never took place before learning that Billy had passed. I knew Bill from playing basketball with him at the Holy Cross Church and School gym in Dover, Delaware. Bill had a great wit, lots of funny stories and a good three point shot. Bill was well liked among the twenty or thirty so players who have played ball once or twice a week over several years. Bill was a great man that made you feel welcome even if you didnt know him. Im lucky I got to meet and play basketball with him. I enjoyed all our side conversations and even better when we were on the same team and you hit the 3 to win. God bless you Bill

Bill played with our men's basketball group here in Dover Delaware for the last 10 years or so. You could tell how much he loved the game and he had so much fun even as he got older and the competition got younger and younger. He was very proud of his deadly three-point shot. For the last few years he was the oldest player in our group until he retired. We did get to see Bill one last time when he came down to play a few months ago. Bill, or as most called him "Gleas", was absolutely the funniest person I have ever met. And he could tell a story like no other, especially stories about his antics. The practical jokes he played when he worked for the Delaware government - the famous "Calendar Girls". The many times on David's deck in Brigantine when he would regale us for hours on end. Just a great guy and a great friend who will be greatly missed.

When our brother Bill was born, he had this mischievous grin on his face and we remember our father, looking at his newborn third son and saying, I have a feeling this one is going to cause me a lot of trouble. Everyone who ever knew Bill through his pre-school childhood, his Holy Child, Cardinal Dougherty High and Loyola University days remembers Bill as the great story teller, the master of the one liners and practical jokes. He was the funniest guy we ever knew and when you were with him...

I'm shocked and saddened to hear of Bill's passing!
I met him a few years ago and we went out a few times and talked frequently. His sarcastic wit was captivating! He was very kind and a great story teller. He even had a mass said for my recently deceased sister. He made an impression in my life!

My late husband Herbie Heaton just loved Bill!! Always made him laugh. Got to meet him last year for the first time and I can see why everyone loved him, such a wonderful guy! My condolences to his family.
