William Douglas Gottwald Jr.

GOTTWALD, William Douglas Jr., 89, of Henrico, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Hicks and William Douglas Gottwald Sr., and daughter, Mary Gottwald Williams. Doug retired from New Market Corporation as a Corporate Record Secretary after a lifetime of service. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elizabeth Nelson Gottwald; children, William D. Gottwald III (Kathie), John P. Gottwald (Angela); grandchildren, Virginia W. Stouffer (Bobby), George B. Williams III (June), Emma R. Williams, William D. Gottwald IV, Ryan B. Gottwald (Ava), John W. Gottwald, Lauren M. Gottwald, Meagen Hood (Brad), Gregory A. Jones (Jessie); and great-grandchildren, Isabell Stouffer, Luca Stouffer, Maddalyn Stouffer, George Williams IV, Emerson Hood, Collin Hood, Luther Hood, Kepner Jones, Laken Jones.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 17, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. Interment will be private.
