GRANTHAM, Mr. William W. Sr., of Richmond, Va., age 68, peacefully entered into eternal life on January 7, 2009. Mr. Grantham was born on March 18, 1940 in Seaboard, North Carolina, the son of the late Wade Leon Grantham Sr. and Mary Beatrice Simms Grantham. A life member of New Friendship Church of Christ Disciples of Christ of Richmond, he took pride in a lifetime of service to his Savior and his family. Mr. Grantham leaves precious memories with his four loving and devoted children, William W. Grantham Jr., Steven A. Grantham, Tosha Y. Grantham, and Shannon B. Grantham; his wife, Gloria Brogdon; three loving sisters, Anna W. Carr, Lucy L. Scott, and Mary K. Grantham; two brothers, Milton and Timothy C. Grantham; cousin, Tillman Simms Jr.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was a member of the Armstrong High School class of 1958 and will be remembered by his many friends and classmates as well. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, 2700 North Ave. The family will receive friends on Friday evening January 9 from 6 to 7 and again from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, in the Watkins Community Chapel, 2701 Garland Ave. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Interment Rest Haven Cemetery, Wilson, N.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of William W. Grantham Sr. to New Friendship Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 4322 North Ave, Richmond, Va. 23222.
