William "Bill" David Graves, 77 of Philpot, Ky. died Monday, August 16, 2010 at his home. He was born December 18, 1932 in Dickinson County, Kansas to the late Victory Ray and Lona (Huffman) Graves. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Korean War. He was retired from Sterett Crane & Rigging where he was a welder, he also worked most of his life as a crane operator for many construction companies. Bill loved to read westerns, watch wrestling and Nascar. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Judy Byrd Graves; two sons, Bill Ray Graves of Inman, KS., and Lonnie Dale Graves of Salina, KS.; three step-sons, Jeff Powell of Broken Arrow, OK., Thomas Powell of Killen, TX., and James Powell of Owensboro.; one step-daughter, Victoria Palmiter of Summersville, SC.; fourteen grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda Emig and Helen Rose both of Abilene, KS. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
