William A. Haislip II

William Adrene "Billy" Haislip II, 44, of Palmyra, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

He was born on May 17, 1968, in Charlottesville, the son of William Adrene "Bill" Haislip and Pamela (Dunn) Haislip.

Billy was a self-employed landscaper. He was a hard working man who enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and NASCAR racing. He will be dearly missed by his many hunting buddies, customers, and friends. Survivors include his wife, Melanie Haislip of Palmyra; his mother and stepfather, Pam Haislip and her husband, Jerry, of Palmyra; his father and stepmother, Bill Haislip and his wife, Debbie, of Scottsville; two children, Brooke and Brett Haislip of Scottsville; three stepchildren, Katelin, Jessica, and Savannah Perkins, all of Palmyra; two sisters, Beth Brookman and husband, Dennis, of Scottsville and Julie Haislip of Palmyra; his grandmother, Helen Dunn of Goochland; four nieces; and a host of cousins and extended family.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Reverend Greg Miller and Pastor Steve Feden officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haislip Education Fund, c/o Union First Market Bank, 5980 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Palmyra, VA 22963 to be used to help with funding his children's college education.
