William Thomas Hand II of Maggie Valley, at age 85, passed peacefully, Saturday, October 24, 2015 in hospice at the Homestead. Born May 2, 1930 in New York to the late William and Claire Hand. He was also preceded in death by his siblings; Claire, Kenneth and Valerie. Bill is survived by his Daughter, Deirdre McLoive of Maggie Valley, his son, William T. Hand, III and his wife Sophia of Lake Mary, FL, his brother, Donald Hand, two sisters, Vera Dysart and Abigail Hand, four very special granddaughters, Natasha, Katia and Isabella Hand and Ashley Martin and her husband Damian. "Grandpa" was the greatest title he held. William was an exceptional man, he owned and operated a label printing company, Athena Packaging, taught education and was a tutor. He loved giving direction on life, helping people when he could. Bill was a visionary that believe children are our future, he was always looking forward. Bills greatest passion in life was his garden, we all remember his bountiful harvests, and wonderful tomato's. At all other times, Bill could be found around a Piano at the local Irish Pub singing with friends, he was a wonderful Irish Tenor. He will be dearly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I truly was blessed to care for him for the past three months. He was such a caring and smart, witty man. In the short time I knew him I really grew to love him. I know he will greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Brooke Owen, RN

Sending my thoughts and prayers to the Hand family, especially to his son Billy with his wife Sophia and their lovely daughters, Isabella, Katia, Ashley and Natasha.
