WILLIAM DODD HATHAWAY
On Monday, June 24, 2013, William Dodd Hathaway of McLean, VA. Former United States Senator from Maine. Beloved husband of the late Mary Lee Bird Hathaway. Father of Dr. Susan H. (Richard) Boydston of Cincinnati, OH and Fred W. (Lee B.) Hathaway of Washington, D.C. Brother of the late Dr. Jean Fergusson in the Philadelphia, PA area and the late John F. Hathaway in the Detroit, MI area. Grandfather of Elizabeth Britton (Steven Larkin); LT Edward Hathaway, USN; and Alexander Dodd Boydston (Bart Den Boer); William Broadfoot and Benjamin Dodd Hathaway. Great-grandfather of Kai Benjamin Larkin. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 1102 W. Broad Street, Falls Church, VA. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Memorial Chapel, Ft Myer, VA at 8:45 a.m. Interment will follow in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Capital Caring Hospice Services, Attn: Susan Zolbe, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, Virginia, 22042 (www.capitalcaring.org).

Senator Hathaway, a really fine person, and a beloved figure at Burning Tree for decades. Everyone knew Bill, he was loved by all for his friendliness, his joyful smile, his positive outlook in life, and of course his legendary wit! We will miss you Senator! best, jim
