God bless you, Billy.I will always remember you as "Mr. European" from the Lake Placid camp. You were a good friend to all of us and you will be greatly missed. The coaching fraternity just lost a great one and I am grateful for our friendship. Rest in peace, Billy.
Your friend, Mike Mulqueen

Coach Hodge used to crack me up when he coached us at Bucknell Track Camp when I was in middle and high school (1990s.) Since, then, from Bucknell Camp, we have lost Coach Gulden, my dad Frank Valvano, and now Coach Hodge (or "Hodgie" as my dad called him.) I am so sorry for your loss- Dad and Coach Gulden are in good company.

God bless you, Billy, also known as" Mr. European," to the group from Lake Placid. You touched all of our lives and you will be greatly missed. The track coaching fraternity lost a great friend. All of us are better for having the opportunity to know you. Rest in peace, Billy.
Your friend, Mike Mulqueen

Forever young

Through all the years Bill was a bachelor, and because of our close proximity, we were his main family. He adored Freddie and Steven and the feeling was mutual. I hope he knew that Fred and Maria adored him too.
Till we meet again Bill
Love, Fred
