Not sure what to say?

The members of the 642nd Bomb Squadron salute Bill for his remarkable achievements and dedication to his county.

Bill Holmes was and will always remain a sterling example of the finest of qualities...devotion to his family, service to the community and conspicuous valor in service to his country. To all members of the Holmes family, please accept my sincere condolences.

Luann and family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss but from what I have heard and read about your Dad, I know what he gave to his family and friends all of his life will be alive forever in so many hearts. You and your family are in my prayers.

Thank you for your service to our country Mr. Holmes. God Rest your soul.

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

My sister and I grew up knowing that Bill was the "best man". He stood up for my parents, Glen and Helga, when they married in DeRidder, Louisianna on January 14, 1944. Bill wrote of this in his diary.
Bill and Daddy have had many D-Day Anniversary phone calls. I had the precious opportunity to spend time listening to Bill and Daddy recall their WWII days at the 409th Reunion at Hampton, Virginia.

A major memory of my child hood was playing on my front porch when “Billy the Milkman” as my parents called him would make his delivery (he was a long time friend of my parents). He always spoke to me with a kind word as he quickly left the bottles and jumped back in his truck. I was so impressed at what a hard worker he was and the pride he took in his task. I learned in later years of his efforts during the D-day invasion, and that...

Dear Holmes Family,

I just wanted you to know how much I learned from living across the street from you when I was growing up-the peace, love, and joy of your family was very real to me. I remember when Clareen made her first communion and especially the statue of the Infant of Prague in one of the bedrooms. After college I became a Catholic which has been wonderful. My husband, Gerry, and I have two children and our oldest is a nun. Wherever I am, whenever I have seen the Infant of...
