Bill and I were 1L moot court partners at Duke. We had the better arguments but lost in an early round nonetheless. Bill was gracious about this, as he was in all things. A gentleman and a scholar who left us too soon.

Bill brought so much joy and happiness to everyone he knew. Bill was a good friend, a loving husband and father, and an exceptional lawyer. He will be missed by all. Condolences to his family.

I´m so sad to hear this. I worked for Bill once and he was such a kind man. My condolences to his family on the loss of such a kind man.

I did not know this man---so accomplished and anointed with fine qualities as described in this exquisite piece. However, I can't resist commenting that as an avid Auburn lover and supporter I am amused and gratified that even though a graduate of other fine universities that he loved Auburn and being a natty dresser that he wore orange and blue neckties to teach in the law school at Alabama. I regret that I didn't have the honor of knowing him. My warmest condolences to his fine family...

Mr. Horton always made time to chat with me at HYSR and at Delta. He was a kind and humble man that will be missed.

In 2008, my family and I checked into a small hotel down the street from Victoria Station in London. We walked into a waiting room filed with duffle bags and Boy Scouts. From a corner I heard someone call my name. It was Bill. He was wearing a Boy Scout leader uniform. He told us he was taking his boy´s scout troop to historical sites in England and then on to the Normandy Beach cemetery where they planned to place flags on the memorials of men from Alabama.
