James A. McAlister Cremation Obituary

Dorothy Hubster Jackson, born October 16, 1926, died November 17, 2013; William McKeever Jackson, born December 7, 1923, died November 18, 2013.

The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. William McKeever Jackson, Jr. are invited to attend their funeral service at 3:00 PM Thursday, November 21, 2013, from the sanctuary of Pinecrest Baptist Church, 1285 Ashley Hall Road. Interment will be held Friday at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Florence, SC at a time to be announced. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM this Wednesday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway.

Dorothy and Jack lived at 148 Wappoo Road overlooking the Stono River. Their two daughters, Anne Pettus and Peggy Bachofner, their four grandchildren, Judd Willard, Chase Willard, Jenny Bachofner, Angie Bachofner and James Thornley, who later came to join our family, and their three great grandchildren, Sasha Bianchi, Taylor Willard and Carson Willard, all loved family gatherings there.

Jack is a WWII veteran. After the war, he and Dorothy met while attending USC (to this day - avid Gamecock fans!). They married Dec. 19, 1948 and lived in Florence, SC. He worked with ACL Railroad, while she was a devoted mother and homemaker. Jack and Dorothy spent 15 years in Augusta, and after several grandchildren were born, they retired to Charleston, SC. They could often be seen sitting on the front porch enjoying the view of the river.

Dorothy loved anything "family", "beach" and animal-related, resulting in a menagerie of family pets over the years. Jack was an avid sports enthusiast (with a city tennis championship or two under his belt) and gardener - known for his potato crop. He was a deacon at his beloved Pinecrest Baptist Church.

The two loved taking trips and were known to disappear for weeks at a time.
After 65 years of loving life together - now their heavenly journey together continues on...

They will be loved and missed by family, friends, and especially the family pet "Princess".

Donations in the Jackson's honor may be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church, Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412, or a charity of one's choice.

Not sure what to say?

Angie and family,
Our prayers are with your family during this difficult time. As hard as it is for you who are left , what a wonderful thing it is to know how much they loved each other and enjoyed life as we know it on this earth together. The Lord will carry you through each difficult moment of this time. Angie, know how much I care about you.
Love,
Mrs. Donna and DC Danceworks students and faculty.

Peggy ,Ann you are in our prayers. We haven't been able to spend much time with you and your mom and dad but wish I paths had crossed more .Daddy loved uncle Bud and your mom and always was so proud of his brother. Wish we could have shared more time threw the years but please no that Judy and myself will have you in our prayers. Because I am taking chemo each day we .send regrets at this time impossible to be at the service. Faye Jackson Judy Gardner
