William James "Bill" Bub

Bub, William James "Bill", age 89, baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Saturday, July 15, 2023. He was born in St. Louis, a son of Leo and Ellen Bub (nee McNamee). Bill was a graduate of Saint Louis University High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business from Saint Louis University. Aligning with his reputation as an extremely generous man and an avid supporter of his alma mater, Saint Louis University, it was most fitting that he made the choice to donate his body to science after his death for the benefit of Saint Louis University Medical School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a long time Sales Executive with Upjohn and Dow Chemical, and a faithful member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church.

Bill was the loving husband of Ann Marie Bub (nee George), who preceded him in death on December 8, 1988; dear father of Brigid (Mitchel) Thompson, and William James (Celeste) Bub, Jr.; loving grandfather of Brenna (Josh) Richie, Meghan (Thomas) McBrayer, Caitlyn (Stephen) Prouty, Erinn (Josh) Volpenheim, Kelly (Andrew) Smith, and Brandon Bub; proud great-grandfather of Wyatt Richie, Aubree McBrayer, Hayes Volpenheim, Elliott Mae Volpenheim, Benjamin Smith, and Katherine Smith.  He was grateful for his longtime friend and companion, Joette Wilkins and her family. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Ann, parents Leo and Ellen, and four sisters and one brother, Mary Ellen Wall, Alice Bub, Betty Hirt, Sister Leo Ann Bub, and Leo Bub.

Services:  Memorial Mass at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Ellisville, Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.  A Celebration of his Life will follow at the VFW Post 6274, 115 Mimosa Lane, Ballwin, MO until 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Louis University.
