William Ray Johnston, 89, 02/24/1936-09/02/2025. Born at Houston Heights Hospital, graduated Jeff Davis High School and attended U of H. Ray enjoyed working 35 years at Finger Furniture Co., starting in the mail room, working his way to Buyer. Ray was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Houston.
Ray had a kind heart. He said his middle name was "Trouble" and always had a joke, or two for everyone he met. Ray was devoted to family and friends alike.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents William Carey Johnston, Eva Mae (Parsons) Johnston, sister Joyce LaVerne (Johnston) Rains, brother-in-law Luther Rains, nephew Clayton Rains and great niece Kristen Holliday. Ray leaves behind adopted son Bruce Johnston, grandson Brandon Johnston, niece Karen Holliday and great nephew Jason Holliday.
At a later date, a private graveside service will be held at the Wellborn Cemetery, Wellborn, Texas.
Donations on Ray's behalf may be made to the SPCA of Houston.

Earlier today

Very sad to hear of Ray´s passing. At Fingers, our offices were next to each other. As a result I got to know Ray well and was frequently the recipient of his kind gestures and unique sense of humor. A gentle soul with a warm heart. Genuine in all ways. Rest well Ray.

Yesterday

Worked with Ray for years when he worked for Fingers. He loved his job. Also rented his condo for years. He was always a kind and funny person.

Yesterday

IT was sad news when I received the news of Ray's passing. My sweet cousin Ray gone from my life. The many memories lingering day by day. I'll miss the phone conversations and his dry humor,.....so funny & refreshing. I love you Ray.
