Bill always accepted my words of affirmation at the Newcastle Fire District Board meetings. That meant he heard a lot about me working to reduce to wildfire hazard risk on our property, including a lot of tree work. Therefore, it seemed appropriate to me to donate a tree to be planted in a needy forest in appreciative remembrance of him.

I met Bill when I was in high school, when I first befriended his youngest son, Justin. When I think of Bill, I think of a man who had a large presence in life. He had an infectious laugh, a perpetual smile, and was always curious about me and my life. He and Kathleen were always welcoming, and created a comfortable and safe space for me.
